About Us
A year after heavy losses for Democrats in the 2004 general elections, members of College Democrats at Syracuse University came together to found Citrus Political Action Committee. The PAC was established in order to involve young people in the political process to maximize the outcomes for Democrats in future elections, in Syracuse and across America. We believe in the necessity of involvement.
We have worked on Senator Hillary Clinton’s senate re-election campaign, Dan Maffei’s 2006 bid and successful 2008 election to Congress, and State Senator Dave Valesky’s 2006 campaign. We worked on Bill Owen’s bid and successful election in 2009 to Congress. We also worked on Stephanie Miner’s bid and successful election to the post of mayor of the city of Syracuse. We have also staffed events for Senators Clinton and Schumer, as well as for former DNC Chair and current candidate for Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe (a Syracuse native). We hosted a debate for the 2007 Onondaga County Executive race.
We also are committed to raising awareness within the Syracuse University student body on important issues to the progressive agenda. Each Spring, we decide on a new issue campaign and dedicate our time and resources to bringing about greater awareness and change.
We recognize that elections have consequences. To achieve the future that we want, we must act. Citrus PAC aims to take that action.
Citrus PAC is a legally filed political action committee under the Federal Elections Commission (FEC).
